As a caricaturist, Rabenau was regularly confronted with the idiosyncrasies of politics, so creating comic strips soon became second nature and then an inescapable calling. Initially, his strips appeared weekly in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung and then daily in the Hannoversche Allgemeine. Today, many newspapers feature Rabenau's witty cartoon stories.
Arifé Aksoy
, an illustrator/artist who freelances for book publishers, newspapers, and magazines, has been Rabenau's colorist since 1995. Among others, the Kunsthaus Zürich has featured an exhibition of his work.

Dithard von Rabenau's portfolio includes special editions commissioned by leading newspapers. Since 1996, he has been creating anthologies for the readers of Hannoversche Allgemeine, one of Germany's most prominent dailies.
